Story
Well what a year it's been for us all...
Unfortunately for my family, the 8th of April 2020 was extremely tough. Sadly this is the day My Grandad passed away from prostate cancer. For anyone that knows us, they know just how important Grandad was to us all and how difficult it was to not be able to say goodbye due to the pandemic.
7 years ago the day before I left for University, my Grandad sat me down for a conversation I will never forget, he had cancer. He motivated me to achieve my dreams, he watched me graduate, he was there when I just needed a chat. Without the hard work and dedication of charities such as Prostate Cancer UK and the work they do everyday, our time together would have been a lot shorter.
COVID restrictions stopped a send off my Grandad truly deserved and the London marathon seems the perfect way to make up for that. (I will probably be regretting this statement around 30km into the race haha!)
I want to help Prostate Cancer UK beat cancer for good. Although this race is primarily for my grandad I will be thinking about so many others that have been through a rubbish year too.
I know the marathon is going to be my greatest challenge yet but I am so lucky to have friends who will help with training and fundraising. A strong family to keep me motivated when times are hard and memories of one heck of a bloke to keep me smiling for the whole 42kms.
Oh and its my birthday the day of the race too :D
