Story
Thanks for taking the time for visiting my JustGiving page.
I am challenging myself to swim the distance of the English Channel over this Easter in order to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. My grandad has this condition and I see the devastating impact it has on the people who suffer from it and those who care for them.
The challenge will be tough as I will need to swim a minimum of 80 -100 lengths every day for the 16 days of the Easter break to achieve my goal, but will keep you posted on my progress!
MS Society is a charity that raises money for research into MS. They are researching three ways into working on preventing this disease. Preventing immune damage, promoting myelin repair and protecting nerves from myelin attacks, and ensuring nerves have all the energy they need to be healthy. The money I raise will be donated to MS Society to fund such research and potentially lead to the next medical breakthrough in the treatment of MS
I believe that MS Society is a great cause to donate to as Multiple Sclerosis is an awful condition and more funding for research will have a massive and important impact in potentially helping those who suffer from MS. Over the past 20 years amazing progress has been made with over 12 treatments available for people who suffer from relapsing MS as well as a couple emerging for early progressive. Not only that we also know what causes MS. This has only been possible due to donations made so far.
This challenge and the charity is meaningful to me because of my grandad. He means a lot to me and slowly seeing his deterioration over these past few years has been tough, not only for him but also for my grandma. Taking on this challenge will allow me to try and help them, and also other families that I hope do not have to go through the same.
I recognise that these are challenging times financially for a lot of people so any donations however small will be gratefully received and passed to the MS Society.
Thank you!
Harrison
