So far Pontypool Relay have raised over £500,000 for Cancer Research UK

The event is important to me because I have lost special people to Cancer and also I have friends and family fighting or who have survived Cancer I fundraise for them And for new medicines to be discovered

Across the UK and the globe, teams of friends, families and colleagues fundraise for world-leading research to save and improve lives, then unite as a community at an event to honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress we’re making.

How does the money you raise power progress?

- £65 could buy special restriction enzymes. These act like molecular scissors to cut long strands of DNA, allowing our scientists to find out more about the genes that can cause cancer.

- £220 could fund our team of nine cancer nurses for one hour. Our nurse helpline offers confidential support and guidance to people affected by cancer.
