Story

I will be going out to Romania for three months, beginning in September, to volunteer with the Flying Seagull Project in their quest to spread joy, laughter and fun to isolated and under privileged communities in Romania

The FSP have recently set up the ‘Seagull Centre of Silliness’ as part of the Rural Arts Project (R.A.P) in a village in the Bacau region of Romania to provide rural communities the opportunity to access the arts. Working in schools and with community groups, the project engages local children in creative programmes with the aim that through self-express and play they will be able to explore their individuality and grow their self-esteem . In addition, the Seagulls try and help to strengthen relations between community members.

Alongside the other Flying Seagulls, I will be at the Seagull Centre of Silliness five days a week to promote fun, laughter and enjoyment to the whole community through performance, activities and workshops including drama, music, art, dance, and skateboarding. Of course, I will be outfitted in the most ridiculous attire for the whole three months she is out there… as long as it doesn’t hinder my skateboarding!

I have created this fundraising page for anybody kind enough to donate and help me achieve this goal. Money donated will pay for my accomodation and food whilst I am out there. It is £50 per week (that's £600 for the three months). If I raise more than £600, the money will also help pay for my flights and go to the charity directly.

I have also organised an Art Fair to help raie funds. Visit the tumblr here: http://springcarnival-artfair.tumblr.com/

About the charity

We believe that it is everyone’s right to put aside the cares of life and smile for a while. We work with marginalised groups to bring smiles and laughter, whether as Clown Doctors for children undergoing difficult medical treatments or through arts, music and crafts workshops and shows.
