Story
I’m going to use my wheelchair to travel 100 miles in April to raise money for Roadpeace.
It’s been eight years since I was hit by drunk driver travelling at 101mph while standing at a bus stop. Upon waking from a coma, I learned my friend Rebecca had died at the scene.
Roadpeace provide information and support services to people bereaved or seriously injured in road crashes, and engage in evidence-based policy and campaigning work to fight for justice for victims and reduce road danger.
We’re also campaigning to to update the Road Traffic Act to replace ‘Accident’ with ‘Collision.’ Accident is outdated and undermines the reality of what a Road Traffic Collision is. Driving drunk at that 101mph was a choice, not an accident.
