Story
I’m back from injury and have secured my place in the London marathon 2019 in honour of my late sister and my hero Alex. My goal is to raise money for DKMS who add people up to age 55 to the stem cell register. Funds are always needed But most importantly I ask: Please please sign up to the register. You could give someone a new life!! All it takes is a cheek swab.....

Alex was offered a lifeline with a stem cell transplant but it wasn’t successful. Doing the best we can to keep her spirit alive
I also want to raise awareness of how vital blood donations are. Alex kept a record of her transfusions for most of her 18 months of treatment and just in blood she received over 25. Platelets were extra. All in all she received around 15kg of transfusions!
She put up the best and most inspiring fight against Leukaemia and was such an advocate for raising awareness and sharing her experience. It’s still very hard to accept she’s not with us. In her memory the best I can think is to continue what she started. Get people donating blood regularly and also joining the stem cell register.
So I want you all to help - donate blood - share your photo in the group and social media #milesandmlsformilli
Sign up to donate if you don’t already !!
