Story
Myself and Amy-Louise Lakey have decided to challenge ourselves in 2022.
We aren't professional runners, in fact a gardener and a hydraulic modeller. But this year, we have decided to run a race every month and push ourselves to be the fittest we've ever been. During the pandemic we both realised how important exercising, getting outdoors and setting ourselves challenges was for our mental health. We very quickly saw the physical benefits too.
In March we ran our first half marathon of the year, following our first two races of 2022 in January and February. After this the real challenge begins with our biggest event in May, a 50km Ultramarathon and then the iconic Great North Run in September. Whilst we complete these events, we hope not to pick up any injuries in the remaining few games of the rugby season.
It would be crazy not to try and help others while doing this, so we are raising money for Macmillan throughout the year. If you are still reading this and able to donate we would be unbelievably grateful. It is a Charity very close to a lot of people including Amy and even with those family members no longer with us, we know the impact their support has and we can have them with us in our hearts while we run.
Thanks for supporting my fundraising. At Macmillan, we give people with cancer everything we’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are our worries. We’re doing whatever it takes. But without your help we can’t support everyone who needs us.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
