Story
Both Harper and Bobby were admitted to NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) after their births, Harper had a long stay of 4 weeks after I develop preeclampsia and she was delivered by emergency C- Section after 32 weeks. She was a tiny 3lb and wouldn’t be here without the wonderful team at NICU.
Bobby was admitted as his condition was unknown due to complications with his birth, I had a placental abruption at 35 weeks and he was misdiagnosed as deceased (for three hours until I haemorrhaged and got rushed to theatre) he was born with an unexpected heartbeat and rushed to NICU! When NICU took over our care we were in the best hands and the nurses and doctors have always been so supportive, tentative and brilliant to both us and our babies. They work tirelessly to keep our little ones safe in the most unknown times and they are not given the credit they deserve! They are absolutely brilliant and we owe it to them for saving our babies!
The FOBU (Friends of the baby unit) is a charity that helps to fund essential lifesaving equipment for the unit itself and provides wellbeing support and guidance to affected families as well! This is a charity very close to our hearts as they do so much to help the babies by providing that all important equipment and helping the families with support throughout their NICU stay and beyond.
Matt has been accepted and is training hard to complete the Great North Run in September to raise money for FOBU and NICU! For him to do this for FOBU and in his hometown ‘The Toon’ makes it all the more special and meaningful to him! We would really appreciate a donation no matter how small if you can :)
This is for you NICU! Thank you to everyone for looking after our babies, keeping them safe, keeping our spirits high when they felt so low and helping us through an extremely difficult time!
(Photos in the gallery for then and now!! So proud of our Preemie babies❤️)
