Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I have the honour of running my very first marathon ever, while also raising money for the Reed's School Foundation.
For over 200 years the Reed's School Foundation has given hope and opportunities, and provided education to disadvantaged children. It continues to do so today.
Please help me in raising money so we can help more disadvantaged children getting a good education. Because as stated by the founder Andrew Reed: "A good education is a fortune a child can never spend".
Here are a few examples of pupils who have been able to go to Reed's School thanks to the Reed's School Foundation. These pupils have been exposed to a range of social issues and, as such, demand a high level of sensitivity, so names have been changed (*) in these two brief profiles:
Isaac* lives with his mother who suffers from severe mental health issues; as result, he is often responsible for the care of his younger brother and sister. Dad left the family home and Isaac doesn’t have a particularly good relationship with him. Isaac is very protective towards his mother and, although she clearly relies on him, she really wanted him to come to Reed’s. He is a hardworking student, who wants to better his life and that of his family. He hopes to go to a good university.
Cara* was born about a year after her mother had been released from prison, however, it soon became clear that her mother wasn’t able to care for the family because of her drug addiction. Cara was finally removed by social services and placed with her maternal. They live with Cara’s two half-siblings and grown-up cousins in a small mid-terrace rented house near Haringey. Cara wants to make something of herself and feels she would benefit from boarding at Reed’s. Her ambition is to study Art.
