I've decided to put on my running shoes again and do something crazy - run a half marathon (13.1 miles) dressed as a giraffe!

I'm volunteering in Rwanda with Tearfund for 10 weeks this summer through the International Citizen Service!

I’ll be working as part of a team of young people striving to fight poverty and make a lasting difference by working with local people to meet local needs.

>> Tearfund is a leading relief and development charity, working in partnership with Christian agencies and churches worldwide to tackle the causes and effects of poverty.

>> The International Citizen Service (ICS) is the UK’s leading global volunteering programme for young people who want to do voluntary development work abroad.

The work I’ll be involved in could include:

~ Education – teaching English, running sports clubs, teaching HIV/AIDS awareness

~ Agricultural work – tree planting, pineapple planting

~ Water and sanitation projects

~ Building work

If you know me well, you’ll probably know that I often have itchy feet when it comes to travelling – and I’m quite often planning my next adventure before finishing the last one!

The first part of my journey, however, is to ask you to sponsor me to run the Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday, 26th May.

My fundraising goal is £800 – which I’m told is an achievable amount!
