Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My journey from non-runner to Marathon entrant started sometime between Christmas and New Year. It dawned on me that if I was going to fulfil a promise I made with myself a couple of years ago - that I would complete a full marathon before I turn 30 – I would have to get moving as sadly, that particular milestone is imminent! So off I went, literally a mile at a time, running in snow, ice, hail, gales, blistering sun, rain etc etc
I have ached in practically every muscle, joint, bone & ligament in my body, I have had blisters where I didn’t think it was possible to blister and I have probably shortened the shelf life of my teeth by a good few years with all the isotonic drinks and gels I am chugging down. I have become a regular in Boots buying plasters, tape, Ibuprofen, Ibuprofen gels, knee supports, ice packs, Vaseline, tiger balm (if anyone has shares in Boots I recommend you sell before the 6 October as profits are likely to take a dive!)
HOWEVER….as tough as this has been, I am nearly there! And as awful as I have probably made this sound there have been some high points too!
One thing that helps keep me going is I now have the opportunity to use my personal challenge to raise funds for a charity everyone will be familiar with. I am sure every person reading this knows someone who has been affected by cancer so you will appreciate that every donation, no matter how small, reallly counts as it all goes towards helping Macmillan support people living with cancer.
Please give what you can, not only will your donations help support a really worthwhile cause but on a personal level your support is what will get me through to the end (that and the fact they give out free flapjacks at the finish line!)
Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for your support!
