UPDATE: I cut 14 inches off in the end to give the most I could to the Little Princess Trust. See below for a picture of the new hair do!
Initial Post:
For those of you who vaguely know me, you may know that I have a weird relationship with my hair.Though I havent always been crazy about the colour, I have always loved having long hair. I have spent a long time growing it and I haven't had a 'bob' since childhood. So cutting the majority of my hair off will not be easy for me, but it's for an incredibly good reason. I am rising to bring an end to violence against women and girls!
I am the organiser of V-Day Kingston University “The Vagina Monologues” 2014. I decided to put on this event to raise awareness about women’s issues and to encourage people to speak up.
You can book tickets for the show here:

On February 5th 2014 we did Campus Rising at the Penrhyn Road campus at Kingston University. The V-Team were stationed in the reception area to inform and educate students. We also asked students why they think we need to rise and what justice means to them. In addition to this we sold wristbands and had a bake sale. We raised £200 and so I want to double that by cutting my hair.
We are raising money for Hestia, a charity that amoungst many things runs domestic violence services and safe houses in Kingston upon Thames.
I am donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust as many people around me have suffered from cancer and I know the difference a good wig can make to rebuilding someones confidence after such a traumatic experience.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
