Story
Two years ago we completed the Edinburgh 10k and wanted to further challenge ourselves this year! We will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday 28th of May. We are in no way runners...but training has started with 10 weeks to go.
As part of our Half Marathon adventure, we will be raising funds for a fantastic small charity in Edinburgh. Jock Tamson's Gairden is an open green space in the heart of the city situated on the banks of Duddingston Loch under Arthur's seat. It is a vibrant community garden for people of all walks of life. It is a garden for the whole community welcoming people regardless of age, ability, sexuality or background. The Gairden alleviates social isolation and brings together people from diverse backgrounds to improve inter-generational communication.
The garden offers safe and supportive volunteer opportunities for around 25 people a week, many of whom have mental health issues, learning disabilities, autism and physical illness. From both of our jobs we know how vital purposeful activities, fresh air and good company are in helping people improve their health and well-being. Jock Tamson's Gairden is a place where people can really thrive. We are delighted to support their great work - and hope you will too.
