Story
Hi there, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page in support of Universify Education!
For 4 years now, Universify has been working with Oxford University to host its year-long programmes for Year 10 students across the country from disadvantaged backgrounds. This year Cambridge University has joined with UE to host a course at St Catherine's College, which leads onto a very exciting fundraiser to celebrate this milestone for the charity...
🎉 The 60 mile challenge 🎉 (the distance from London to Cambridge!). So, over the next month you'll catch me walking, running, cycling and just generally movin' and a groovin' to cover the distance of 60 miles (or 97 km)!
Currently a student's background (where they live and go to school, ethnicity, parental income, etc) determines whether they're likely to go to university or not. For many of these students they believe university, particularly highly-selective universities, is not for 'people like me', which leads to the under-representation of low-income families in higher education.
Universify is looking to close this widening gap to ensure a more diverse university population and normalise university as a choice. We want every young person to have the opportunity to achieve their potential in education. The closure of schools risks making this participation gap even greater. Universify has taken their programme online during the pandemic to continue to help students achieve their potential in education.
I'm very grateful to be the Course Director of the Cambridge St Catz course this year, and, so, it's a cause and a fundraiser that is very close to my heart and to the work that I've been extremely lucky to be a part of.
Any likes, shares or even the smallest of donations will be so greatly appreciated! Your support will allow Universify's work to continue and grow to reach out and support more deserving students than ever!!
THANK YOU!
