Story
For the last 1.5 years, we have all experienced some level of hardship. Whether it be isolation, financial impact, job loss, loss of a loved one, depression, or some other experience - many of us had to find ways to adapt, survive, and endure an ever changing pandemic. Many of us are still trying, adapting, surviving. Now imagine what this is like for Her Justice clients, women living in poverty in New York City — 90% of whom are women of color, 80% of whom are survivors of intimate partner violence and 71% of whom are mothers. The devastating impacts of COVID-19 are compounded for women like Her Justice clients. We may not be able to change every situation, and we may be trying to fix our own, but at the end of the day our support combined will make a direct impact and difference in many lives - so let's do what we can because we are only better together.
About the Campaign:
For women living in poverty in New York City, the devastating health and economic crisis is not over, and the road to recovery will be long. That's why I hope you'll support me in raising critical funds for the 2021 Her Justice Shift the Power Campaign a commitment to ensuring that women hit hardest by the pandemic have access to financial security, safety, and stability for themselves and their children through the civil justice system. Over the past 18 months, we have witnessed systems break down in the face of crisis, leaving women like Her Justice clients to bear the brunt of the fallout. They face lower wages and job loss and often raise their children alone, all while facing increased risk of abuse and exploitation. They are the backbone of our communities. If they do not thrive, neither do we. We are New Yorkers. We don't leave each other behind. Donate to #ShiftThePower today!
