Story
Some of you may already be aware that I will be running the London marathon this year on 22nd April, pushing my body and mind to their limits in a gruelling endurance run of 26.2 miles.
For me, this is a huge personal challenge, as before September I didn't (and couldn't) run more than 1.5 km.
I am putting myself through the ordeal of training in the cold, wet, dark nights to raise awareness and funds for the amazing work of the charity Mind. Mind's mission is that they won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets the support and respect they deserve.
Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales and has been supporting mental health for over 60 years. One in four people will experience a mental health problem every year, and thousands of people do not yet feel comfortable or confident to share this with others. Mind believe that no-one should have to face mental health problems alone.
Teaching, as a profession, has a huge problem with the well being and mental health of its staff, and this, alongside my own and my friends' experiences with mental health issues, is my fuel for success. It it so important that we make it OK to not always be OK and that Mind are able to continue to carry out the inspiring work that they do to support anyone who might need their help.
I hope you can find it within your heart to donate to help make a difference to the lives of so many who will benefit from the support of Mind.
