This year, I set out to complete my first Ironman 70.3 triathlon. 🏊🚴🏃
After months of training and completing several sprint/olympic triathlons over the summer, a road cycling accident at the end of July put my 70.3 goals on hold and left me with a fractured spine. 🤕
So now I'm focusing on what I can do instead! ✨ Inspired by the Aspire Channel Swim Challenge, I'll be swimming the English Channel's distance (22 miles) in a pool to “France” over the next 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire, a charity supporting those with spinal cord injuries. With the fantastic support of the Aspire Leisure Centre team, I'll be doing an extra special challenge and attempting to swim the entire channel distance “back to Dover” in one day on November 24th! (35km, 1416 lengths). 🏊😱
Every two hours, someone is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. I'm fortunate that my accident wasn't more serious, and I want to help those who aren't as lucky.
Please consider donating to this incredible cause.
I'm doing this, not only to raise awareness for Aspire and the amazing things they do to support people with life-changing injuries, but also to encourage everyone, in work and in life, to focus on what they can do, no matter the obstacles. 💥
