Story
Oh Lordy what I am I doing... After successfully raising money and running the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2018 in 1:57 (and not hating it), I was accepted to run the 2019 London Marathon for British Lung Foundation.
For those who don't know what I'm running:
Back in January 2017, my Mum, Katherine (now 48) was diagnosed with mesothelioma, an incurable rare lung cancer that is very, very aggressive. This cancer is caused by exposure to asbestos and currently has no cure.
Two years later and she's smashed🤛🏻 two rounds of chemo and a pleurectomy on the one lung. She is a huge inspiration to everyone who knows her, with her positive look on life that affects us all.
I am running the London Marathon to raise money for British Lung Foundation to enable more people to conduct research on mesothelioma and spread the word about this dangerous, unknown disease. Mesothelioma is terminal, but prolonging life is a priority, more research needs to go into this.
I will be posting updates in the form of Instagram (@thehannahsilvey) and I'm going to be organising a pub crawl (Alf, will need your help with this) and murder mystery for friends and family, details tbc! 🤩
Speak soon, xx
