Since working for Diabetes UK, I’ve learnt that diabetes is relentless, and a daily challenge for everyone it impacts. And it impacts so many people, here’s a few stats for you…
- Nearly 5 million people in the UK are diagnosed with diabetes
- Diabetes leads to almost 9600 leg, toe or foot amputations every year. That's 185 a week
- More than 1,700 people have their sight seriously affected by their diabetes every year in the UK. That's more than 30 people every week
- More than 700 people with diabetes die prematurely every week
But, it’s not all doom and gloom. I’ve also learnt that, with a little help from you and I, Diabetes UK can continue do some pretty fantastic work to support those living with diabetes, and get closer to a cure!
That’s why, after 4 years of no running, I’m running the a half marathon next April to raise money for Diabetes UK. Please donate - help people living with Diabetes and help me get to the finish line, I need it!!
