Every 5 minutes, a baby is admitted to neonatal care in the UK. Zach was one of those babies. Born 6 weeks early, he spent 18 days in NICU and SCBU (much shorter than the original estimate of 4-5 weeks) I didn’t meet him for 24hours and couldn’t hold him for 4 days, fortunately this was a short time compared to the experiences of some families in the unit.  We also weren’t allowed to visit him together due to Covid restrictions and understandably had to wear masks the whole time too. Zach now has full leg plaster casts on to correct the position of both his feet, called talipes or club foot. He’ll have these for 6 weeks initially. It has been a bit of a whirlwind since we’ve had him, but the nurses and doctors continue to be amazing. 

Bliss provided useful information and support when we needed it the most, we’ve since become aware of the incredible work they do to help families with babies needing neonatal care and how they are committed to driving improvements for the future - we’re raising money for them!
