Story
Hi everyone
This year I will be running the London marathon in memory of my sister Sarah who passed away in August 2013 after a 12 month battle with cancer. I can’t begin to describe how it feels to lose someone who has been by my side from the moment I was born. My sister has always looked out for me and been there for me and it was heart breaking to be unable to return the favour when she was poorly by taking her pain away and making her better. My sister was so young and full of life and is proof that cancer really can happen to anyone.
Cancer is a truly horrific disease that no one should have to go through. The work of the Christie Hospital, where my sister was treated, is amazing and I honestly believe we gained precious time with Sarah thanks to the care and love they gave her during the 11 months she was treated there.
My sister and I both share a love/hate relationship with running. Neither of us are natural runners but that didn’t stop my sister running the London marathon in 2011. Prior to her passing, we talked about me running the marathon for her and the Christie to thank them for all the work they do. This is something I will now do in her memory and I know she will be with me every step of the way.
My aim is to raise £2000.00 for The Christie so they can carry on the amazing work they do so every penny counts! I will be updating my page over the next 6 months with all the other fundraising I am going to do in order to reach my target so feel free to keep visiting this link to see what I'm up to!
Thanks for taking the time to read my page xx
