In 2010 I visited a prison in the Philippines where I met a girl suffering from epilepsy. She hadn't committed any crime, but because people didn't understand her condition she was locked in a prison cell.
Since being at university I have become bestfriends with Rhiannon Cole, who has epilepsy. Not once has she let her condition get her down, regardless of the multiple challenges she has faced during her time at university in conjunction with the 'support' offered here at RHUL. There has been a lot of misunderstanding and confusion surrounding her condition. It's time to break the stigma.
