Dave Hooper memorial hike up Snowdon in aid of The Darjeeling Children's Trust

Dave Hooper memorial walk in aid of The Darjeeling Children's Trust · 14 September 2013
Hello and welcome to this event which is being run in memory of David Hooper and to raise funds for the Darjeeling Children's Trust, with the specific aim of raising enough money to put three young women from low income families in Darjeeling through nurse training.
This hike up Snowdon is being organised by Nick Wheelden in memory of his friend, David, who was an avid supporter of this and similar causes all over the world.
Nursing remains an attractive employment option for young women and Darjeeling Children's Trust hopes to help three candidates, two of whom currently live at an orphanage, to gain a nursing qualification. All are from families who earn very little and who are unable to fund any training for their daughters. Aishwarya’s father died when she was very young whilst Sanju’s family rely on income from her mother’s small shop as her father cannot find work. Neither of Alka’s parents have a job.
The young women have made their applications to the hospital where they want to train and are waiting for news of whether they have been accepted.
