Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was completely overwhelmed by the support I received back in March for my very first half marathon. My running shoes were temporarily put aside to allow time for my knees to recover. Training for the 21st September has been a little more difficult as we've had such a warm summer, even early morning runs at 6:30am have been hot. However, over the last 3 weeks with supportive and encouraging friends who have run with me it's fallen into place, I'm ready for part 2! (Well, just about!)
Woolverstone Wish holds a special place in my heart - my amazing Mum received her regular treatment at the day unit for the last 15 years and the staff took such great care of her, making her fortnightly visits for blood transfusions bareable. Sadly my Mum passed away last September after a brave battle, especially in the last year. The funds I hope to raise will go towards the refurbishment of the outpatient clinics and day-unit. Patients who visit the Woolverstone ward receive weekly treatment for cancer and blood conditions. The money raised will improve privacy for patients and provide a more comfortable treatment area. (Hopefully this will mean there will be several of the particularly comfy pink chair to sit on).
I cannot believe a whole year has passed by, so to mark the first year, the Ipswich half will be my run for Mum. I'll also be running with my cousin Pip this time and will be looking out for familiar faces in the crowd, especially needed between mile 9-13 and Constitution Hill please to get me to the finish line!
The money I raise will be adding to my inspirational friend Kate's current total. Her incredible achievement in 2013 of £25k for Project 30 (30 sporting events in 12 months) - this will contribute to her £30k target.
