Story
We are running the Oxford Half Marathon to raise funds for Yellow Submarine.
Hannah broke her leg quite badly in May 2022, and it has been a slow recovery. Having done a 10km run in May 2023, she was persuaded by her daughter, Connie, to do the Oxford Half Marathon as part of her continuing recovery. Both of us feel strongly that Yellow Submarine is a charity worth running for.
Yellow Submarine is an award-winning Oxfordshire charity that believes people with learning disabilities and autism deserve to live life to the full, something that is dear to me. They tackle the problem that many people with learning disabilities leave school with limited life skills and as a result poor life chances. This often leads to isolation and being marginalised. Yellow Submarine projects start working with young people in community settings from the age of 11 onwards, to build their social skills, confidence, independence and ultimately their employability. At the same time they are supporting families and carers with respite. Money raised will make a huge difference in helping Yellow Submarine members live life to the full! All donations gratefully received.
