Story
Emma and Hannah are sisters who love running. Emma through her career in textiles discovered the magic of shuktara. Entranced by the story she chose to run her first Marathon in London last year to raise awareness. Having adored the experience she wants to continue to run marathons, only faster! Hannah is a paper engineer who has raced in several UK marathons to include London. She is a speedy runner who similarly wants to support this wonderful charity.
‘We are so excited to be running in this years Berlin Marathon. After such an uplifting experience running London last year we both felt inspired to take on the 6 World Marathon Majors (Berlin, London, Tokyo, Chicago, New York and Boston). Berlin seemed like the next best step.
We have entered as a team because we enjoy training together. Hannah named us as a team "The Winning Sisters" proving that she has high hopes for us both!
For those of you who don’t know shuktara, it is a charity based in India that gives a home for life to abandoned street children with disabilities. There is a home for boys and one for girls run like a proper family, full of tremendous love, support and compassion as all homes should have.
Our friend David is the founder and his story is incredible to say the least. He is an extraordinary person. To read about him, the children, young adults, and staff in India take a look at the shuktara website http://shuktara.org .
We are aiming to raise awareness for this wonderful cause to help ensure that the care and support to run shuktara is ongoing.
If any of you are able to contribute it will mean the world. In return we shall update you on our training!’
