As many people know at the start of this academic year I helped to set up a society with the support of some amazing friends. The society is called Student Action for Refugees (STAR) which is a national charity made up of students who aim to support refugees and asylum seekers across the UK. This involves volunteering, campaigning to help improve their lives and educating people about refugees and asylum seekers.

Sadly, we are no longer able to volunteer with the education programme as planned this term. Therefore myself and other members of the society have organised a virtual marathon that anyone can get involved with (on their daily permitted exercise) and raise some money for refuges and asylum seekers. Many of them are not able to self-isolate and do not have essential hygiene and sanitation products to protect themselves from coronavirus.
