Story
So anyone who knows me knows I am no long time runner. I've always enjoyed exercise in various forms; dancing my whole life and university, moving into HIIT, spin and the general gym slog since. Never, ever running. I couldn't even run 1k to the local park without gasping for breath and hating it the whole way around. I'd written myself off as a runner.
Taking on Tough Mudder with the work team this year was my biggest physical challenge. 10-12 miles of hardcore obstacles and running in between. And run we did for the majority, a feat I was personally so proud of.
Along with a couple of other team members who carried on running post-Tough Mudder, I faced my treadmill fear and strode into my first 5k approx. 6 weeks ago. Stepping out onto the beautiful Brum canals a couple of weeks later, I'm now enjoying my morning runs more than my longtime gym routine. I'm lucky enough to have them on my doorstep to spur me onto the next bridge.
So being competitive me and doing nothing by halves, going all the way with the half marathon challenge. Only for my fave Brum charity, focused on hidden gem projects across the city who without their support would not be able to survive and support those in their local communities.
Sob story out, let's help raise loads of £££ for those doing amazing work every day across this wonderful city I now call home.
