Story
I hate running and am not a natural runner but having grown up with the Great North Run I always thought I might do it one day but never had the incentive.
In Sept 2012, just before her 30 birthday my youngest sister, Ellie was diagnosed with bowel cancer and I now had my incentive. I decided to run to raise money for a charity doing research to help people with bowel cancer and other bowel problems. I secured a place in February and when I told Ellie she was so excited. She said she would be there to cheer me on and provide some much needed physio at the end (she had volunteered as a physio at the London Marathon a couple of times). Sadly, despite Ellie’s bravery, chemotherapy and the best efforts of the Christie hospital she deteriorated and died on 16 May 2013. A few days before she died she said ‘I am gutted I am not going to see you do that run, it would have been bloody hilarious!’
Please sponsor me for this great but unfashionable cause so I can raise money to help people who are trying to find a way to help people who find themselves in a similar position to Ellie. Thank you so much in advance, Hannah.
