Me, my three sisters and my grandma are walking 5 miles for St Raphaels Hospice in memory of my great-grandad who passed away in their care back in 2005.
All care offered by the St Raphael's team is free of charge and all patients are referred to the hospice by the NHS. It costs nearly £4million a year to provide these services of which nearly £3million relies on charitable fundraising. Because of these generous donations our Great-Grandad and many others have been well looked after in their final days which gives them as well as their families the comfort needed during this difficult time.
I know a 5 mile walk may not seem much but please bear in mind that our nan is 75 years old so for her this is quite a challenge and we will be supporting her every step of the way.......even if it does take 5 hours!
