Story

*****Mike is continuing with raising money and is running York 10k on 4th August for OCD UK!

Myself and Mike are raising money for OCD UK because we know the devastating impact the condition can have on someone’s life.

Somebody cannot be a ‘little bit OCD’. The ‘D’ in OCD stands for disorder. This means if someone is diagnosed to be suffering with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, the person affected will be experiencing a severe impact on their daily functioning and their quality of life.

Unfortunately I know too well the reality of this mental health illness. Some weeks ago I suffered a mental health crisis, my parents had to fly back from their holiday in Italy and I couldn’t be left on my own. I am currently on sick leave from work and taking each day as it comes. Mike was brilliant in the first few days of my crisis, he came round and stayed with me while mum and dad made their way back from holiday. I am so thankful for my friends who have been amazing and my truly incredible boyfriend Ben who has been with me every step of the way.

Before my crisis I was training for the Hull Half Marathon with mike because I was so desperate to raise money for a charity who has helped me and my family so much - OCD UK. I am unsure whether I will make the start line next Sunday due to my body and mind still recovering. However, mike will definitely be there!!

We are so thankful for any kind of donation, we just want to do our bit to give back to such an incredible charity!!
