Story
Heyo,
I work as a Fundraising Officer at CTS and so I get to see first hand how much 'Sanky' means to the young people that come here. I also see how every volunteer (36) and staff member (there's only 15 of us!) cares deeply about each individual young person.
"Because of Clock Tower, I now see potential in my life and feel that I’m on way towards a much better place. It’s so much more than just a place to come and have food or a shower, the people here have helped me find strength that I’d forgot I had." - Esther, 25, she/her
I'm organising this event, but also taking part in climbing the mountains and fundraising. I like a good wander but this a stretch. I'm taking on this personal challenge as it's CTS's 25th Birthday.
I'm training every weekend leading up to the big day so I don't slow the team down. Please donate, help me reach my target and support young people experiencing homelessness in Brighton and Hove.
- £10 could top up a young persons phone so they can call their caseworker or make GP appointments
- £15 could fund a shower, hot meal and a food parcel for a young person experiencing homelessness
- £25 could pay for cooking equipment and food supplies for a young person living in temporary accommodation
- £50 could pay for a Support Coordinator to spend a few hours 121 with a young person having a really hard time.
- £100 could pay for a weeks’ worth of martial arts and photography group to give young people structure and something to look forward too.
The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a day centre in Brighton & Hove for 16-25-year-olds who are homeless or insecurely housed. We provide the practical and emotional support that homeless young people need to move from crisis to stability. At our friendly day-centre, we offer washing and laundry facilities, hot meals, confidence-building activities, Life Skills classes and support with accessing health services, benefits, accommodation, training and work.
“After a while I ran out of people to stay with and spent two weeks rough sleeping. It was really scary. I slept under bridges, in parks. But I didn’t really sleep, I couldn’t. There’s lots of us rough sleeping in Brighton, so all the good spots are already taken.” - Sarah, 21, she/her
