Story
In light of the recent brutal rhino poaching incident, where a mother (Reine) and 6 month old calf (Magen) were senselessly killed and another shot, I want to raise awareness and provide any financial support I can for the wildlife reserve in South Africa.
Rhino poaching incidents are on the rise in South Africa and Covid-19 has put a stop to necessary income to the reserves. This means there is increased pressure on rhino conservationists to protect their rhinos. Anti-poaching teams, K9 units, veterinarians, air support teams are essential components in rhino conservation efforts, and - put simply - they all require financial support.
I was planning to volunteer again in 2020, but the restrictions obviously put a stop to that. It's hard not to feel completely hopeless sitting at home in England unable to go out there and do something. This is why I am asking for your support in donations.
Horns are worth over $65,000 per kg. They are made of keratin and do not provide any medical benefits to those who eat/sniff/snort/ or chew them. We have the same useless substance in our hair and nails - hence the head shave.
When I reach £1,000 worth of donations to the charity I will shave my head.
ERC works to ensure the protection and survival of rhinos in the wild through raising awareness, education, funding conservation, anti-poaching and research to ensure the preservation of a core population of white rhinos in South Africa.
