Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I know a lot of you are aware that I have been planning this trip for a while so it’s great that I am finally realising my dream and my dad’s wishes of making one last trip up a rather large hill! (departing June 14th). The photo shows dad near the summit about 50 years ago in hobnail boots and tweeds! Michael (Jock) worked and lived in Tanzania for a number of years and this was the start of his love of mountains, which he passed onto me with our many trips to the Dales, Lakes and Scotland.
The cancer he suffered from is a major health issue yet its profile is very low. It is now responsible for around 5% of all cancer deaths making it the 5th most common cause of cancer death. Over 7000 people die from Barrett’s Oesophagus a year and the survival rate is sadly one of the lowest. When it is diagnosed early the symptoms can be treated and with regular monitoring it can help prevent the condition developing into cancer.
The charity is small so every bit helps. Thank you for any donation and wish me luck as I think I’m going to need it!
