Story
Hola!
2016 will begin with a splash, as we plunge into the icy cold waters surrounding Queensferry, Edinburgh on New Years Day.
Instead of my head being firmly in a toilet on New Years day, this year I will be dressed as a toilet... whilst swimming/running/carefully avoiding sea creatures in the River Forth.
Of course this is all for a good cause. In February I will be leaving sunny Carlisle and travelling to Nicaragua for 3 months to help communities build and sustain access to clean drinking water and sanitation services. 64% of Nicaragua's population have access to clean water and only 34% of Nicaragua's population have access to sanitation services. The programme focuses on the community's needs, as local people also work on the project with us, ensuring the future sustainability of the scheme.
The UK government covers the cost of my travel and accommodation, therefore the £1500 raised goes straight to the charity Raleigh International which provides these services to rural communities in Nicaragua. This is not a gap yah or a super chill holiday. I'm building toilets and working with communities to improve their living standards.
Joined by my mum Angela, sister Alli, and wee cousins Ava and Mia, as well as my daft aunty and uncle. Ava is going to be dressing up as 'Bloodied Elsa' (we don't get it either) and the rest of the team are yet to choose their costumes!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, all donations are welcome!!!
