Fundraising for Kidneys for Life
Story
A large number of the population have chronic kidney disease and this is only going to get worse as we put on weight and live longer. Whilst it is more likely to affect you when you get older, all ages are at risk and can develop kidney failure needing dialysis and possibly a kidney transplant. We are looking for kidneys to last a lifetime with our research.
My friends (I use the word loosely) have signed me up for my first half marathon! On the 6th October. My mission is to complete it in one piece.
One of my oldest and closest friends who I started primary school with has been suffering with kidney failure for a number of years and after having two transplants, the second kidney has now failed and she is back on dialysis. Considering how poorly my friend is the thing I admire about her the most is her positive attitude and her amazing sense of humor.
