Thomas is 4 years old and the son of my cousin Nicci. He and his twin brother Dylan arrived 10 weeks early, weighing less than 3lbs. An MRI scan at 2 years of age showed Thomas had some neurological damage and a diagnosis of cerebral palsy was confirmed.

Thomas needs Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery to increase his chances of being able to live and walk independently. Unfortunately, the NHS does not cover the cost of this operation, the physiotherapy that follows or the rehabilitation equipment required to achieve the best outcome from the operation.

The good news is that due to his hard work and progress so far, he has been accepted for this specialised surgery! However, funding is still needed for the 3 years of critical follow-on physiotherapy and this where we need your help.

In setting this up I realised that I'd never actually organized any fundraising before as I've always chosen to offer my support to others. I'd also not run further than 3m before April of this year but will have covered around 500m in preparation for this run. I would be massively grateful if you could donate whatever you are able.  All donations made on this JustGiving page will go directly into Thomas's Tree of Hope Fundraising page.
