Story
I'm raising funds for the SASH Cancer Fund, to help my local hospitals go further for people affected by cancer.
A few months ago, my dad got diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer which came as a massive shock to him and to us, but thanks to SASH he has had so much support. They are providing amazing services which have encouraged positivity. He is "grateful for having someone there at the outset of his cancer journey. Someone to answer questions and be there when the worries and anxiety kicked in". Macmillan have not only been able to provide physical and mental support, ensuring dads wellbeing but has also given him opportunities to drop in for coffee, or even try pilates and yoga! Charities like SASH make all the difference in peoples journeys. My dads father sadly passed away from Bowel cancer but along his journey, support was provided through lovely people at Macmillan.
Although he is being treated at the Royal Marsden in Sutton, he is still able to use the facilities at East surrey- our local hospital.
I have chosen to participate in a half ironman in August and raise money for SASH as I would like to say thank you for their continuous support.
I will be completing this over 1 weekend
Friday: bike 56 miles
Saturday: swim 1.2 miles
Sunday: run 13.1 miles
Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) provides vital services at East Surrey Hospital, Crawley and Horsham, including managing the East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Centre in Redhill. Donations will help the cancer centre and other cancer services go further for people affected by cancer.
Thank you for your support - it means a lot.
