I am a researcher involved in a pharmaceutical company engaged in the development of new drugs. I have experienced the development of two pediatric medicines, and fortunately, I have been able to deliver one of them to pediatric patients. Through this experience, I have come to realize how precious it is to deliver medication to pediatric patients. At the same time, I deeply feel the difficulty and the long time required for drug development,

especially for pediatric medicines. (Pediatric medicines often take many years to be approved after adult medicines are approved, and there are cases where approval is not obtained.) Although our research may not be immediately deliverable, I believe there are ways to contribute immediately, so I applied for this fundraising campaign.

Becoming a father of two children myself, I have come to
appreciate the importance of raising children and the support of those who raise them. Although my child does not use a wheelchair, I realize that the substantial support from those around us, aside from me and my wife, is crucial for their healthy growth every day. Through this donation, I believe I can contribute, even if only a little, to children using wheelchairs having a daily
life similar to that of my children.

Here are the details of Whizz Kidz!

In the UK, there are over 75,000 children and young people
who require a wheelchair as a means of mobility. Unfortunately, they cannot ride a wheelchair tailored to their needs through local services. Whizz Kidz is a charity organization that supports all of them. Whizz Kidz provides appropriate wheelchairs for each individual to play an active role in society and further offers activities for them to lead a social life with confidence.
Whizz Kidz's goal is to create a movement towards a more open and accessible world.

私は製薬企業で新薬開発に携わる研究者です。これまでに2つの小児用医薬品の開発を経験し、幸いにもそのうち1つの医薬品を小児患者に届けることができました。この経験を通して、小児患者に医薬品を届けることがいかに尊いことかを実感すると同時に、医薬品開発、特に小児用医薬の開発は困難かつ、非常に長い年月を必要とすることも痛感しています。（小児用医薬品は、成人用医薬品が承認されてから何年もかかってやっと承認されるのが通常で、承認を得られないこともあります。）我々の研究が今すぐには届けられなくても、今すぐに貢献できることがあると信じ、この募金活動に応募しました。

また私自身が2人の子供の父親となり、子供を育てること、その子供を育てる人達のサポートの重要性に気づくことができました。私の子供は車いすには乗っていませんが、それでも我々夫婦以外の周囲の多大なサポートがあるからこそ毎日健やかに育っていることを実感しています。この募金を通して、車いすに乗る子供たちが私の子供と変わらない毎日を過ごすことに多少なりとも貢献できると信じています。
