Story
In 2013, two great things will happen in my personal life. One has actually happened --I have reached 30 recently. Many of my family member and friends say it doesn't make sense--30 isn't the age to start running, long distances in particular. It's the age you start lying down. The other one is that I will be a DAD in May or June. So I cannot find a better way to beat an early mid-life crisis and also celebrate the exciting change of role in my adulthood.
But as a dedicated member of Salvation Army Stepney Green, much of the reason I want to complete the marathon is to raise funds for Salvation Army Stepney Green, and activities in China orgainised by Salvation Army.
I have been living in Stepney Green for more than 7 years. The joy I find in Stepney Green and the satisfaction I feel are overwhelming and it's as diverse as you want it to be. They are many reasons to love this area--mile end leisure centre & stadium for sports, genesis cinema for entertainment, regent's canal for walk, cycle and run, etc. But to live here sometimes need a bit of braveness to face the social problems. However, we Salvation Army Stepney Green are working with local people to run a wide range of community projects to support children, young people, and families. Your generous support will help to achieve social change in Stepney Green.
And also, since 1996, the Salvation Army has started great various development projects in China to change local communities for better. Your donation will help the Salvation Army in China to continue its work in rural communities in mainland China with a strong focus on economic and social development.
PS: I'm quite a competitive guy, so I really want to finish in less than three and half hours. To motivate myself to achieve my personal goal, I will donate £200 if I can make it.
Happy running!
