With the ongoing conflict in Yemen already one of the poorest countries in the region over 20 million people don't know where their next meal will come from. A country crippled by conflict is sadly now on the brink of famine.

Story

As-salaamu'alaikum,

In honour of our beloved grandfather, Hafiz Masrur-ul-Hasan, we are raising money for Yemen so that it may act as Sadqah Jariyah for him. He was a dear father, grandfather, great grandfather and a strong pillar in our community, and will be deeply missed. Our Abba was so full of greatness and love and touched the lives of so many; we can only hope and try our best to continue the legacy he has left behind.

After completing Hifz at the age of 8, he lead Taraweeh prayers in Jama Masjid, New Delhi and later after arriving in the UK in 1961, was the first Hafiz to lead Taraweeh in London Central Mosque, Regents Park, in 1963. He began to build a community and his presence grew around his faith and commitment to sharing it in a relevant way. Whilst being culturally aware, Abba was a sociable character with a huge personality; respectful, yet witty and charismatic. He wanted to make a difference and went on to become a muslim chaplain for Her Majesty’s prison services, where he taught and guided inmates of all beliefs. As a local imam of Sutton Islamic Centre, he went on to perform hundreds of Nikkahs, blessing countless gatherings with his communal duas. Through our Abba many people found an accessible and simple way of life underpinned by strong morals, loyalty among family and friends, and a humble closeness to God.

May this source of Sadqah Jariyah be a means of comfort to him in the grave and the afterlife. We ask that you make dua for him in abundance so that Allah may forgive and have mercy on him, and elevate his ranks in Jannah.

The ongoing conflict in Yemen has left 24 million people in dire need of humanitarian aid; it now officially hosts the worlds largest human-induced food security crisis. Every 10 minutes, a child under 5 in Yemen dies of preventable causes. Families and communities have been torn apart and left without even the most basic of living essentials: 19.7 million people need basic healthcare with almost 18 million people are in need of water and sanitation facilities

Islamic Relief is on the ground in 17 of the country's 22 governorates, providing essential food aid to families at risk of famine and facing extensive food insecurity. With your support we can help these communities in their hour of need. Donate Now and help save lives.

Please support us in helping Abba to continue to serve Allah's creation with love and kindness.
