Delighted to announce my next fundraising race for candlelightersyorkshire charity for which I will race the ASICS world athletics half marathon champion ship Gyndia 2020 virtual race on the 17th October 2020.

This will be a race with a twist:
.
i will be racing in a virtual mass event so will be running solo.
.
Im due to work a 13 hr oncall on the 17th October. So ill be racing before the start of my shift (around 5am).

Ive picked a charity dear to my heart. #candlelighterscharity is a childrens cancer charity based in Yorkshire. They support children diagnosed with cancers, their families and staff at Leeds General Infirmary on wards 31-33, the wards I work as a paediatric oncology doctor.
.
They also fundraise for many other vital things. Im proud to say they also funded my PhD fellowship and wholly supported the 1 year extension i needed because of my unexpected diagnoses of dyslexia and dyspraxia.
.
For this I am eternally greatful and this is my small way of giving something back. Especially with how much charities have been affected by the pandemic.

I actually fundraised for candlelighters when i ran my very first marathon and raised a £600. My goal this time round is to exceed this.
.
Im going train hard, all around my day job of working as a childrens cancer doctor and ill be going for a pb (<1:54hr) at 5am in the morning!.
.
