Story
The Haddenham Scout and Guide Association is delighted to announce the 2022 Haddenham Scarecrow Festival will take place from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 19th June inclusive. The Festival is starting a little earlier than usual to take advantage of the two bank holidays being held to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It is hoped that some entrants will create scarecrows with a Royal theme, but this is optional as anything goes – the only limit is your imagination!
The closing date to guarantee inclusion on the official Trail Map is strictly midnight on 25th May. Maps will be available online from 2nd June and in various village outlets as well as at Haddenham Fete.
The 2022 Festival event will be raising funds for mental health charity, Buckinghamshire Mind, which is run by local people for local people. This charity is responsible for its own funding and the services it provides. Their vision is that everyone with a mental health problem gets both support and respect. Buckinghamshire Mind promotes
wellbeing and recovery; prevents mental ill health by offering talking
therapies and providing support in times of crisis. The Association will donate 100% of profits from the 2022 Scarecrow Festival to this very worthwhile cause.
Full information and entry forms are available to download from the Haddenham.net website from 7th May. Paper entry forms and full details will be available from the Association’s stall at this year’s village Maypole dancing, which is making a welcome return to
Church End green on Saturday 7th May.
The Association is proud to co-ordinate this popular annual event and is always keen to hear from any adults who would like to find out more about volunteering with any of Haddenham’s Scouting or Guiding units.
Visitors come from far and wide to see our village Scarecrow Festival, so let’s give them a fantastic display in 2022. Start planning this year’s creations and mark the dates firmly in your diary!
