Story
In my job in events for a charity, I deal everyday with amazing people who are raising money for a cause they are so passionate about. It’s very heart-warming and sometimes (often) makes me shed a little tear behind my desk.
It's so inspiring, I’ve decided it’s time to take on a challenge of my own and give something back. I’ve wanted something to take me out of my comfort zone - and I can safely say this’ll do it!
In October 2022 I’m going to be trekking to the Point Lenana summit of Mount Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro. It’s ranked as ‘challenging to extreme’ in difficulty, with ‘-15’ mentioned far too many times for my liking as a potential temperature.
Alongside training hard over the next few months, I’m fundraising for the incredible charity Born Free, who work across the world to stop individual animal suffering, protect threatened species and keep wildlife in the wild.
I’ve seen the outcome of their work first hand, as during my time in Malawi I helped care for the beautiful lions Bella and Simba who Born Free rescued from lives in a run-down zoo and circus.
It’s a charity that’s close to my wildlife-loving heart, so if you would like to sponsor me and help them continue their fantastic work, I would be truly grateful.
The money I raise will go towards conservation projects in Kenya, including the Mount Kenya elephant corridor, and I will be visiting and assisting these projects following the trek.
Thank you so much <3
