Story
Having worked in retail since leaving school and for many different companies I have faced alot of different challenges and change but nothing quite like Covid-19. I've been through redundancies and restructuring, and so know first hand how this can come out of nowhere and cause stress and anxiety over your future in work.
No one can predict the destruction Covid-19 will cause across many industries and the aftermath isn't even in sight yet as we are still in lockdown. But there are so many people who have already lost their jobs, business have liquidated and there's no going back. This is devastating for retail workers and their families across the UK
To hear of my old colleagues from Debenhams lose their jobs recently has truly broken my heart - they were an amazing company to work for and their people are what made it!
For those who have been lucky enough to work for retailers that are surviving through the pandemic they have their own set of challenges to face. New working environments, keeping colleagues and customers safe and the economic impact of the virus. This all brings with it anxiety about what the future looks like and retail trust are there to support employees and their families through this aswell
This is why I've decided to take part in a step into the unknown challenge for the next 7days!
All donations raised for this vital cause will help people in retail and their families get through these challenging times.
