In memory of Kieran Barker
We support young people at risk of suicide to stay safe and find hope in times of need

Story

My lovely son Kieran died in May 2016 at the age of just 20. He was a kind, generous and sensitive young man and someone who was deeply loved by his family and his wide circle of friends.

To lose someone you love to suicide at such a young age is tragic and has such a devastating impact on the lives of those left behind. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for men between 20 and 34 and we all want to be part of the solution that will help to address this so that no one else is forced to deal with the pain and suffering that we have experienced.

We also want to support a charity that is working hard to end the stigma
surrounding Mental Health issues and seeking to increase Suicide
Prevention. Every year suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and
natural disasters combined, and yet suicide prevention doesn't get
anywhere near the funding given to other leading causes of death.

'Walking out of Darkness'  is a 10 mile walk around Birmingham that is due to take place on 6th May 2017.  The walk is going to give the family and friends of Kieran the opportunity to come together to mark his anniversary, to share memories and to support each other.

You can help to support our cause by giving a donation. You can also  join us on the walk by registering at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/walking-out-of-darkness-birmingham-6-may-2017-tickets-28450851262.

By working together we can make a difference, we can increase awareness, we can end the stigma surrounding suicide & we can help to put an end to this tragic waste of life.
