A GVI Mexico team of enthusiastic and brave volunteers and staff will be running an eco marathon - Maraton ecologico de la Riviera Maya- on Sunday 28th October in order to raise 2000USD that will pay for construction material transportation to continue building Punta Allen recycling center.

The construcition of this center is an initiative from Punta Allen local fishing village  inside Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve, who want to build a place to store recyclable waste once separated. They have made bins out of chicken wire and the municipality of Tulum has donated a land to built it. So far, the base has been built thanks to the funds from former challenges and fund raising initiatives together with federal governmental resources.

The road to Punta allen is a dirt road and a very bumpy one, so transportation for building material is very expensive, the fund raising target will cover 5 trips to enter the missing material to finish it. 

Furthermore, the marathon slogan is "Run for you, run for your challenge" and the goal is to set up green roofs in Playa del Carmen city through the participation of people in the marathon.
