Story
Only one week to go and the Pez Mayans are training hard! Please help us reach our goal by donating and spreading the word!
The GVI Mexico marine expedition team are once again undertaking a challenge to help raise money for our partner organisation in Playa Del Carmen, Save the Children, who assist children and young people with special needs through various therapies and activities. The organization is in constant need of funds to help with anything from purchasing paper so the children can do their homework to sponsoring individuals treatments or even purchasing a new wheelchair for a child in need.
This time our staff and volunteers are participating in the “Bravest Race”. The Bravest race is an extraordinary race, a challenge of endurance, power and physical skill, as well as mental and spiritual will, taking place at Xplor Park, Playa del Carmen. The whole course takes place in a natural setting that combines tests of strength and skill, including human obstacles- Brave Hunters.
It is a journey over 5 kilometres, including over 30 obstacles, through dense jungle, underground rivers, caves and cenotes. The participants will test their courage and ability while they are chased by the 'Brave Hunters' and should defend their 'Brave Flags' until the finish line.
Our staff and volunteers are doing this to help raise awareness and funding for our cause and any support is greatly appreciated. Depending on the amount raised the funds will go to anything from purchasing educational materials to possibly sponsoring one or more individuals treatments and care for a time or even buying medical equipment such as wheelchairs if we raise enough so even the small donations help a lot!!
You'll see our team fundraising target on the right. Please help us out and be a part of the great adventure! You can join in by following the training and progress via the GVI Yucatan Mexico Facebook page.
