On 28th March 2014, GVI Curieuse brings you another fun, challenging, exciting and brilliant event with the aim of supporting the excellent work of 'The Seychelles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' (SSPCA). Last year was the first year that GVI Curieuse held an event in support of the SSPCA and following on from last years success, this year we’re hoping to raise even more money with your help. We here on Curieuse are always thinking of fun and inventive ideas for how we can make use of our unique surroundings to raise some much needed funds for such an amazing and organisation as the SSPCA, and this year is no different. We proudly introduce: 'Curieuse Island Monopoly'- a real life version of the board game set on our beautiful tropical island. Teams will have the chance to buy properties, collect sets, complete challenges and explore the island all in the name of a good cause. The day is going to be loads of fun but more importantly we’re hoping that we can raise as much money as possible for the SSPCA.
Why the SSPCA?
The SSPCA aims to provide care and treatment to the population of stray, neglected, mistreated and abused animals in the Seychelles. It is currently the only organisation in place to deal with the Seychelles’ stray animal problem that poses a significant traffic hazard and has a negative impact on the image of the Seychelles as a tourist destination, an industry that represents 80% of its annual GDP. By tackling these issues head on and through preventative measures the SSPCA aims to make a lasting difference to the image of the Seychelles as a tourist destination.
The goal of the Seychelles SPCA is to prevent cruelty to animals in Seychelles and promote good welfare and responsible animal ownership. The SSPCA is aiming to raise funds for medical treatment, as well as to provide a centre where stray and neglected domestic animals can be treated, cared for and ultimately re-homed. This will be the first animal welfare centre of its kind in the Seychelles, and with your support these objectives can be realised. The SSPCA also focuses on education and preventative measures, teaching the local community how to care for these animals and the reasons behind such care.
Team Fundraising
As an incentive, there will be significant advantages in the game for the teams whose members have raised the most money, therefore giving those teams a big advantage in winning the game and claiming the end prize (which is pretty amazing)! We therefore would kindly ask that you sponsor those who you know, love, like, kinda like and are just OK with, and when you do, please write the name of the person in the Donations 'Comments' section, so we know who to attribute the funds to and their team will be in with a much greater chance of winning. For more info on how the event will work and just general updates on the event, keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
