Story
The Seychelles Selfie Showdown is a team photo challenge set across the island of Mahé. GVI Cap Ternay volunteers will form teams, and each team will be given a list of locations and challenges. The aim is to collect as many points as possible, travelling across the island on foot and by bus.
Teams must carefully strategise and plan their route in order to complete challenges within the time-frame given and maximize points earned. Points will only be awarded once a team “selfie” has been taken, proving they reached each site.
All money raised will be used to support our Seychelles Charitable Trust recipients – the President’s Village Children’s Home. The home cares for children who are orphans or have parents that are not able to look after them. Some have been abused while others have disabilities or learning difficulties. All are in need of care and the home provides a safe environment for them to live.
GVI volunteers work with and support the home in many ways, through extra-curricular activities such as snorkel and swimming days, teaching them about the marine environment, and organising Creole Days: a day of arts, crafts, fun and games for all of the children at the home.
Money raised by volunteers goes to support these activities and helps us to buy gifts and much-needed items, such as clothing and school supplies. We also support projects with the home, such as our recent efforts to install solar panels and help reduce their electricity costs. (The panels should be going up late next month).
On the day, our three teams shall be unleased upon the island in all their might and glory. The struggle for triumph will be long and hard, with only true champions emerging as victorious. Support your team by donating here today!
Be sure to note your volunteer’s name in the comments section, as teams get bonus points for raising funds and prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers.
